PostSubject: The Outside World? To See The World Beyond His Home. [Open]   The Outside World? To See The World Beyond His Home. [Open] EmptyThu Aug 20, 2015 9:54 am

Time passed strangely in this wide new world; in his entire life he'd only seen a few 'nights', the sun shone almost perpetually in the Eden of his home forest. It was a blessed place, a favorite restful place for the high gods and their children, as well as the home of his people; the dryads and other forest spirits that where the grandchildren of the high gods. Davin was just that, a child of a high god, namely Artemis, the goddess of chastity, virginity, the hunt, the moon, and the natural environment; daughter of Zeus and the twin sister or Apollo, the god of music and the driver of the chariot that pulled the Sun across the sky. She was his grandmother, making him in all technicality a demi-god himself; his mother was one of the eldest of the dryad spirits, created by the hand of Artemis herself, making his mother one of her true daughters. If not for his 'father', he would be a true god, as the children of high spirits where considered minor god, not demi-gods; however his father was... something else; a 'human' shaman from a people that worshiped Artemis and where favored by her; which allowed their purest spirits to enter the holy garden and forests of his homeland.

It was one of these pure shaman that became his father, and the very reason he was forced to leave his homeland. One of the few absolute laws of the Dryad was that they where all female; no pure dryad could be born male. They where created as such, it was decreed by Artemis herself. However, because he was only half-dryad, there where... complications. It was possible for a half-dryad to be born asexual, or even male; in the right circumstance. In cases of asexuality, the half-dryad was allowed to stay within the forest and gardens of the homeland; however any 'male' dryad spirit was expelled from their home once they reached an age that their initial powers began to manifest. No male was ever killed, and they where raised the same as any other child of the Gods; however their very nature made it impossible for them to stay. Only a male God could exist within the divine region; and only a true god at that, a demi-god would still die (in horrible ways at that) if they where to enter without a very specific set of conditions being met. Because all 'male' dryad where born asexual, they where able to exist within the forest for much of their childhood. It is the manifestation of their abilities and powers that causes the 'change' from asexual to 'male'; in his case it was his fathers shaman powers that led to his exile.

His father's shamanistic powers gave him the ability to 'become' his spirit guide animal, in this case a large deer. It was in this form that he was allowed to enter to forest, and it was in this form that he and his mother conceived him. Because of this, he inherited his father's deer spirit natures; making him both half deer spirit, and a demi-god. It was apparent from the moment he was born that he was different; he was born with small nubs of horn that marked his mixed heritage; it broke his mother's heart when she realized that one day she would have to send her first child into exile before he was even out of his childhood; even if it was an absolute requirement if she wanted him to live any sort of life beyond the few years he would be able to stay home. Even as he was now, he was the rough equivalent of a human child on the cusp of puberty; they'd realized that he needed to leave now because the horns atop his head had begun to grow, signaling that his body was developing more, and his cervine nature was beginning to awaken.

It was a sad day for all of them; his mother and aunts and friends and family threw a massive party for him, and to his immense surprise his Grandmother appeared and spoke to him directly; he may be her 'family', but everyone knew that family in relation to the high Gods was a... strange concept; in ways beyond his understanding. However, Artemis had always been good to his people, and in his short life he had actually seen her several times; at least once per 'year' she would come to visit them and bring gifts, as well as the renewing rains that blessed them with rainbows and new life. During the celebration, she had appeared to them; bringing gifts and wisdom specifically for him, even taking him aside and spending several long moments with him; allowing him to show her his favorite parts of the forest, and allowing him to ask her questions of the outside world, as well as even allowing him to question the justifications for exiling those like him. She was extraordinarily patient with him, and even showed him personal affection; a rare thing from those of her status. The gifts that she brought for him where practical, as well as sentimental; a special bag of seeds that he was able to 'bind' his spirit to, an indestructible travel cloak that granted him safe passage through all the lands that the High Gods ruled; the final gift was the staff of his father, she'd collected it from his father's people when his father's spirit passed into the Elysium Fields; she lead him personally to his blessed rest as a gift to his mother; whom truly loved the human, but was unable to ever truly be with him during her living days. Far in the future, when even the immortal dryad passed into the afterlife, they would be together with each other, and with him; but that was a far off dream for them all. The gift of his father's staff was one of love, both from his father and his Grandmother; he'd never met his father, but having the staff meant that his spirit was able to commune with his Father's, even while he rested in the afterlife. The times they could commune and speak where rare, but those rare times meant much to both of them; and gave him the ability to learn about the part of his being that he had no way of understanding otherwise. With those time to look forward to, as well as the ability to commune with his mother via the earthly forests and always welcome to speak with his Grandmother if he visited her various temples across the world; he was able to face the unknown knowing that he wasn't entirely alone and that he'd have some way of learning about any abilities that he came into as he grew.

So it was that he was among the greater world now; his Grandmother had been the one to take him from his home as a final gift; she left him in an area with very little human habitation and ancient, powerful forests that would sustain his spirit and provide a sense of familiarity for him. The region was dead center of the areas where worship of his Grandmother was strongest, and the respect of the spirits of nature was high here. It meant that he was safe enough; he wouldn't be bothered by the rare human, animal, or divine creature that came near him. At least, anything that was native to the region, anyway. He'd been warned that creatures from outside of their realm occasionally came through the area on their travels to the major human settlements to the north and east; but in general this was a safe place for him to grow and learn how to live in this strange, new world.

Lux loved to wander; she loved to travel all over the world and see all there was to see. Knowledge was a constant goal and it always seemed to provide the best kind of adventure as she went about her quest for it. This particular adventure had already had her away from home for over two months – not nearly as long as she had been gone on previous trips – and she was enjoying every moment of it.

Plus, if she was honest, she was a tad bit of a people person. Oh, she avoided humans as much as possible – especially the males as they tended to be a bit inappropriate towards her - but everyone else was pretty much fair game for her friendly meet and greet methods.

Though, Lux doubted she would run across any people on this particular adventure. She had been traveling by foot for several days, taking her time and simply enjoying the scenery around her as she went. She was traveling lightly, not wanting to be burdened by a whole bunch of items – preferring to use the land to survive and her own natural abilities rather then being bogged down by a whole bunch of items. She was dressed rather simply; a dress that went slightly past her knees with sleeves that went slightly down below her elbows which was white in color, a dark brown traveling cloak, and a small pack that was slung over her shoulder with the most basic of necessities. Her light blond hair was held back at her neck with a olive green colored ribbon.

She walked slowly, taking careful steps, and not bothering with taking a particular path. She preferred to wander through the woods and see nature in its glorious natural beauty; plus it was nearly impossible for her to get lost so that wasn't a worry. After several yards of walking she came to a stop and crouched down to smell a particularly beautiful rose. Her eyelids closed and a light smile formed on her face in enjoyment of the scent that reached her nose. ”Mm... beautiful.”

PostSubject: Re: The Outside World? To See The World Beyond His Home. [Open]   The Outside World? To See The World Beyond His Home. [Open] EmptyFri Aug 21, 2015 8:25 am

The peace of this place, it almost reminded him of home. Oh, there was plenty of noise, but he couldn't hear that, nor would it bother him. Animals where his friends, he made sure their home was vibrant and healthy, and they made sure to protect him from dangers. It had been... strange, at first, figuring out how to communicate with these beasts; before he'd only had to think, or gesture, and everything understood him; one of the gifts of his people was that they could commune without words. They could project their thoughts to one another, use the various pollen and spore and pheromones of their plants, simple gestures; easy. He'd never had to worry about his deafness, it was never a problem. In this world however... it was proving to be a bit of a handicap; although not a bad one. Many of his normal means of communication still worked, and while it took some time, he'd managed to work out a system of gestures and such that the animals understood as well.

It was from one of these animals that he was alerted to something new in the forest. A small song bird had landed on one of his antlers while he was tending to a small oak sapling; the sudden weight on his head getting his attention. He offered a larger vine for the creature to perch on while he worked, but it began to dance and sway in a way that he understood. It was conveying that there was something here, new and not of this forest world. It was telling him that this new creature was a danger, but not a danger; a complex concept that was difficult to explain to 'higher beings'; but his dryad spirit understood perfectly. This was a being with the power to be a danger to them all, but one that was a pure spirit without malice or violent intentions, as least as far as the animals could sense.

Davin's curiosity was piqued, and after the moment needed to finish his work with the sapling, he began moving toward where the outsider was. Once he connected himself to the root system of the trees, he was able to 'feel' everything within the domain of the forest; and the location of the outsider wasn't that far away from him. He was near the outer edges of his new home anyway, so it wasn't that surprising to find an outsider here. One of the abilities of the dryad was to meld with the trees of their forests; he could basically become one with them entirely, his physical body melding with a tree and being reformed from whatever tree or plant he emerged from at a later time. It made for extremely quick travel, and a sort of pseudo-invulnerability. So long as he was merged with the forest, he could only be killed by destroying the entirety of the forest itself. A secondary perk, he was able to 'see' everything within the forest; anything within the realm was revealed to his mind. To most dryad, this would be enough; he could track and learn about the outsider safely this way. However, he wasn't entirely dryad, and because of that, he wasn't satisfied the same way. It was a lingering taint of humanity carried over from his father; while he was a deer spirit and not human in any way, he did have a few of humanities quirks, one of which was the need to 'see' with his own eyes. It was because of this that he allowed himself to 'travel' across the interconnected root system of the forest until he was within a few dozen meters of the outsider; his spirit partially manifesting in the trunk of a massive old oak that provided deep, heavy shade to hide him from mortal eyes. If he was able to be seen, he would appear as nothing more than a 'face' on the trunk of the oak, one that, if not for the fact that he could move, would appear as nothing more than a natural, if odd, growth.

Strange... a human? He'd been given knowledge of humans by his Grandmother; but this being... didn't feel right. It felt... older, and far more powerful; with an almost animal purity. Strange. Maybe another spirit creature, then? It didn't feel like that, though; it felt like a corporeal being, but not at the same time. Odd. He had been warned that even the High Gods didn't know every creature and being that walked this planet; there where oddities that existed outside of their realm, and the realms of the other High Pantheons; so he was going to assume this was one of those strange beings. Curiosity kept him there, he'd never seen anything human-like outside of the other dryads and Gods, so this was completely new to him.

Lux took her time in smelling the rose; the delicate scent of it tickling her nose in a way that made her smile brightly. Upon leaning back she remained kneeling there. She reached out with her right hand and very gently stroked the petals of the rose, enjoying their soft silkiness, without plucking the flower from the bush. She had no interest in removing the flower, simply examining it much like a curious child would.

She was just beginning to move her hand away from the rose when something brushed up against her that caught her attention. Tilting her head she looked down – showing absolutely no fear to the small snake that slithered past her and underneath of the bush. She knew that the snake wasn't poisonous, and even still it would only harm her if she threatened it, so she simply sat there and waited until she was sure the animal was far enough away not to be spooked.

She stood slowly, not minding the flecks of dirt that littered the knee area of her white dress. Instead she simply looked around with bright blue eyes curiously. It was at that point that she noticed the face on the oak tree. Brows furrowing a bit in curiosity she tilted her head a bit to the right and simply stared, curiously, for a moment. Such a sight wasn't entirely unheard of – the right kind of light and shaping could make all sorts of 'illusions' – and yet she couldn't help but be drawn to the tree.

She walked with careful and quiet steps, taking her time instead of rushing. She paused a moment to watch a rabbit dart out from its hole and take off across the ground to another hiding spot, and then kept going. ”Hm...” She would come to a stop about six feet away from the oak tree, tilting her head back to get a good look at it for a moment.

Oh, well; apparently this creature had far better vision that one would expect. In a place like this, the shadows where more than just patches of darkness; they where living things, solid and fluid at the same time; a perfect hiding place for those that where able to use them properly. No matter, unless she had some way of sensing that he was more than just a tree, she wouldn't see much of anything past the odd lines and shadowed shapes of a face; he could 'see' with his eyes closed thanks to the magic that allowed him to meld with the forest itself; and while he did prefer using his 'true' eyes (a misnomer if ever there was one, in all technicality this magical forest sense conveyed far more information than his physical eyes ever could), he was content with being this close. At this range, his earlier sense of her purity and strange nature was confirmed; she was indeed a perfectly pure spirit, much like the forest creatures and the other plant beings he'd known his entire life, yet she was very much not of this world; or his world, anyway. She smelled of different plants and trees and winds; a feeling of 'north' to his senses. Or at least, she had been to the northern forests fairly recently; to give off that strong a feeling.

It was rather nice to know that there where creatures like this one in this new world, and it was enough to have him use just a tiny bit of his magic; he caused a single branch of the tree he was inhabiting to drop down toward the being in a very obviously non-threatening way, and caused said branch to begin to bloom brilliant white flowers; tiny little things that would carry into the air with the next hint of a breeze to dance and shimmer in the molted light.

Lux examined the tree curiously. The face she had seen was indeed there but it hadn't been carved, or at least it didn't look like it. The face looked like it belonged to the tree: strange and yet wonderfully mysterious.

However, her attention was caught by movement out of the corner of her eye and thus shifted onto the moving branch. She wasn't scared though she probably should have been: she felt no evil intentions. So, she remained where she was standing and watched as a branch lowered more and then delicate looking beautiful white flowers bloomed from the branch. She gasped softly in amazement and her smile grew more pronounced. "Amazing... Simply wonderful.", she muttered softly.

She reached out a hand to touch one of the flowers, barely making contact, before a gentle wind suddenly blew through the forest. Lux chuckled softly and then froze as she heard a twig snap about 10 yards out: where the path was. She listened carefully, tilting her head. There were hunters nearby, walking along the path, and making more noise then they were aware. Lux suddenly frowned and looked about, searching for a place to hide - she wasn't fearful of the men, she simply did not want bothered or worse harassed.

He noticed her attention being pulled away; the local hunters had gotten rather close to them. He wasn't worried about them, when they'd entered the forest, they had done the proper rituals and such to tell him that at least some of the party were members of the local human tribe, and so long as they respected the forest and it's sanctity, he allowed them to hunt. When he'd first come here, their shaman had approached him and they had a sort of conversation; a trade of information that was enough for them to understand each other. The local people where peaceful enough, and they treated his Grandmother as their patron deity, so they where his defacto allies in a way.

In all the time he had been here, they had shown nothing but respect for the land and the animals, and offered him plenty of the sacrifices and ritual offerings that he personally didn't want, but allowed them to do anyway, to maintain the peace. Once a year he would meet with their shaman, and they would renew the agreements they had made on that first meeting; and for all the years and over the generations (humans led such fleeting little lives), they had never broken their agreements and had never given him reason not to trust them. A tad naive of him, guardian spirits should always keep that little voice in their mind telling them to be watchful of treachery awake; but he was young and always an optimist.

That being said, he could sense that this being did not want to be found here, and he did not wish to scare the hunters by revealing himself to them without warning. Instead, he caused a thick layer of vines to decent around them; creating a sort of hidden clearing that hid them from sight and kept them from being discovered. Even if they had noticed the vines, they would not be able to move past them, or sense anything beyond them, even if they had access to any sort of human magics. They would find the vines to be an impassible barrier full of the magic of their deity, enough to tell them they where not meant to pass them, and they would move on; at the most lingering just long enough to offer a prayer or token, as they often did when they came across his work in the forest.

He caused the branches that formed the canopy of the forest to part some, allowing the sunlight to stream in better, and highlighting the suddenly blooming flowers that covered every solid surface of the trees and leafy floor. He was being playful, sort of, he was rather enjoying her reactions; and a few moments of company and amusement where a fair trade for the flowers she would be able to pick and take with her, if she chose to. Once the hunters where far enough away, the wall of vines would part and retreat on it's own, and she would be free to leave.

Lux had been quite concerned in a manner of speaking about finding a place to hide, and yet she hadn't needed to be worried at all. The forest around her hid her on its own behind a curtain of vines and this caused another gasp of amazement as a reaction. This forest was definitely magical: and it was making her want to stay longer then originally planned. She felt truly safe here, as she did at home, and it was a welcoming feeling after so long of traveling.

Carefully she sat down on the ground with her legs tilted off to the side of her comfortably and her weight of her upper body resting on her left hand. She was no longer worried about the hunters simply passing harmlessly by. Her head tilted back as the canopy opened up and she could feel the warmth of the sun on her back and side of her body. What she saw caused her smile to return and her eyes to twinkle with happiness: more of the beautiful flowers in bloom.

She had no idea what was causing these reactions of the forest around her: she had no idea if this was simply the nature around her responding to her presence or perhaps a hidden being. But, whatever was causing it was certainly making her feel happy, and welcome: as if this were a sort of gift. "Thank you.", she spoke in the oldest langauge she knew, and thus the one she was the most comfortable with. She didn't know after all if the forest would understand the langauge native to the humans that roamed around, and she could tell that this forest had certainly been here for a while.

Well, it seemed that she was comfortable with his actions, and that made him happy. He had no intent or want to frighten her, merely be a good host; of sorts. Seeing that she enjoyed the flowers, he released a bit more of his magic, causing a random assortment of the flowers to change colors, creating streams of colors to wash across the area. From many of the flowers a very thin mist of pollen was released, causing the air to become scented with the smell of summer wildflowers. Having a chance to make someone happy was rare for him now, and he was going to enjoy it while he could.

Even if he could 'hear', he wouldn't have recognized the words the other spoke; the only 'language' he knew was that of his people, a form of Greek that was so ancient that even the highest scholars barely understood it anymore; it was the first language of the High Gods of the Greek Pantheon, and largely forgotten by the humans and even many of the younger minor and demi-gods. He only knew it because it was the language his Grandmother and Mother thought in, and he was able to... speak, sort of, telepathically with them. Otherwise, he was completely and utterly deaf and almost totally mute. He could make noises if he wanted to, but as he couldn't even sense the vibrations carried up to his brain by his jaw bones, he only made sounds if he was scared or working extremely hard on something; never anything more complex than an animalistic grunt or wheeze.

Taking a bit of a risk, he 'opened' his eyes, causing the shapes of eyes in the face of the tree to open as well; letting him 'see' normally on top of all the extra sensory information he gained by staying within the trees.

Many of the flowers suddenly changed colors and it was enough to make her guess that perhaps it wasn't the forest itself at work here, but some outside source. Still, it was beautiful, and enough to keep her well entertained. Her smile remained even as she closed her eyes and inhaled deeply, inhaling the lovely scent that the flowers were suddenly releasing. With her eyes closed she used her ears to hear; listening to the sound of the flowers falling, any birds nearby, or any other animals that were moving about. This place was truly peaceful.

Lux exhaled slowly and then opened her eyes. It was then that she noticed a slight difference in the tree: as if its eyes were opened where as they had been closed. Tilting her head a bit to the right with a look of innocent curiosity on her face she giggled. ”Are you the one who is causing all of this?”, she would ask in the same old language she had spoken before; only this would come with a gesture to all of the beautiful flowers floating about on the wind.

She truly didn't expect an answer of course, and her eyes shifted back to the colorful and distracting flowers. She caught one on her hand, holding it in both carefully. She ran her thumbs across the petals, stroking it lightly and enjoying the smooth and silky feeling of the petals beneath her thumbs. She then brought it up to her face and inhaled slowly and lightly. Following this she would release the flower back into the air with another giggle, the wind catching it easily enough and returning it to float with the others.

Moving lips, more words he couldn't hear or understand. Oh well; she was trying to communicate with him, and that was enough. He had learned long ago to read when movements of lips where words, even if he couldn't read the words themselves; so it made realizing when someone was talking to him far easier. He thought for a moment before making up his mind; he was in absolutely no danger within the forest, so it was safe to show himself. She had shown no reactions outside of wonderment and amusement at his actions, so he was going to hope that she could handle seeing a dryad spirit appear from the trunk of a tree.

Unless you could really see, he would seem to appear directly in front of the tree that he'd been inhabiting; someone with proper perception would see him basically pull himself out of the tree and form his physical body in an instant; allowing him to stand and interact with his guest. His form was strange, even for a forest spirit. Most took the form of rooted trees, or anthropomorphic flowers; however he was more like a strange mix of satyr and tree, although the parts of his body that where animalistic, namely his legs and hands, where very obviously deer and not goat. Vines and flowers sprouted directly from his skin in places, mostly at his wrist and hair and waistline; he literally came with his own natural skirt of vines partially covering his lower body. It wasn't like there was anything to 'cover', he was still essentially asexual in all ways because his body hadn't reached that point of development; it was just a quirk of how his plant spirit nature manifested. Sitting in his auburn hair where small, double point antlers; the kind seen on young bucks that hadn't reached a proper rut season yet; sky blue eyes curious and bright in that way that only a child could be.

He lifted a hand, more of a paw really, his hands where literally like a modified deer hoof, three digits with the over-sized nails that a deer would normally walk on. In said hand appeared a single blooming branch of an olive tree; a sign of peaceful intentions in this part of the world. Hopefully she would understand the meaning, and not be afraid of him. He was rather odd looking, even among the local spirits; and he really didn't want to frighten her if he could help it.

Suddenly the tree was no longer a tree; or rather, it was still a tree but the face within the tree was an actual person. However, she wasn't frightened. She felt no malice, no sort of evil coming from this individual. She had a feeling that this individual was the one behind the beautiful flowers that were floating around them. This individual looked young, the same curiosity in his eyes that were in her own. While she had never seen someone quite like this creature before her she still wasn't frightened: difference didn't mean evil after all.

Lux's smile formed bigger on her face and she watched as he produced an olive branch that was blooming. She understood the gesture as a peaceful one, and simply lifted her hand and waved slowly in a very friendly hello fashion. She remained calm and relaxed, torn between wanting to look at this new individual and wanting to watch the flowers that were floating around them.

”I am glad to see that you're making friends, Davin.”, came Artemis' telepathic thoughts even before she fully manifested herself into a physical form. She was nearby where the curtain of vines had been as the humans had passed by. As she manifested herself she did so in the form of a human – with her powers as suppressed as she could make them. She was young looking, perhaps no older then twelve in appearance, with long brownish blond hair and forest green colored eyes. She wore a tunic with a skirt beneath it.

Upon her back was her bow, and a quiver filled with arrows. She gave off the scent of of the forest itself, slightly different then the one they were currently in however. She lifted her right hand and moved her hair behind her ear.

She looked to the young female and then back towards Davin and smiled gently: she could tell this female was pure – free of the evil that corrupted so many of this world. However, she was quite sure there was a sort of communication barrier between them – or so she easily assumed.

”Hello, there.”, she spoke out loud, choosing to make her presence known so that she didn't accidentally startle the female. Her spoken words would be in that of the local language, and she could only hope that this female – who smelled a bit out of place – could understand them.

Had there been no interruptions, he would have lowered himself to sit where he stood, allowing them to remain in each other's presence without making it awkward by trying to infringe on her personal space. As it was, he instantly felt the magic and presence emanating from the High Goddess that was suddenly standing beside them. He'd thought he'd sensed her near by; however with a High God it was almost impossible to gauge proper distance; so he'd assumed she was just turning her attention to the general region he was in; not that she was in this realm itself.

"Grandmother!" His mental exclamation was both surprised and instantly joyful. He loved any chance to be around her, and an unexpected visit was welcomed in ways that went beyond his ability to describe. He dropped to a knee in a moment of reverence; he was family, yes, but he was also just a demi-god at best, and a very minor one at that; he knew his place, and he wasn't conceited enough to act above it. Normally after a moment he would have launched himself at her in a hug, much as a child would in the same situation, however he was forcing himself to behave because of the stranger here. The state of the forest around them would show his emotions and excitement though, there was an explosion of growth and life that radiated outward across the entire forest; it was as if spring had come early, it was a reaction to both his emotionally reactive power, and the presence of the High Goddess.

Suddenly they weren't alone: though still Lux did not feel afraid. Even though the kneeling from the individual who had just emerged from the tree was enough to indicate that the female was obviously a higher being in a sense. Even the general feel of power that came from the female was enough to indicate such. She watched the happiness the flooded from Davin manifest itself in the nature around them and this brought about another smile on her face: it was still quite amazing to watch no matter how many times she saw it.

However, the female was speaking to her a proper greeting in a language she knew well enough to respond in, and she knew it would be rude not to respond. She would offer a polite bow of her head before responding in the same language she had been spoken to in, ”Hello. I am Lux.”, she would introduce herself as.

She would then fall silent, her gaze shifting back to the flowers and such that were all around them now: it was a lot to take in.

Artemis couldn't help but grin as a show of her own inner emotions: she liked Davin – he was one of her favorites after all. His enthusiasm when she came to visit was often as great as the visit itself: though she often found herself feeling bad for having to leave. It was the purpose of this surprise visit after all – a little gift in a way. It made her glad, though, to see that he was no longer alone, even if this stranger who introduced herself politely as Lux was likely only passing through: she didn't feel of this forest after all, even though she certainly was something more-so then human. ”Lux.. meaning light. A fitting name for one such as yourself. My name is Artemis.” She had no qualms in giving her name, after all, and she likely would have explained more.

For now though Artemis' attention shifted onto Davin and she crossed the distance that he hadn't. She wrapped her arms around him in a gentle hug while chuckling softly as she reached him: she rather preferred his usual greeting and would miss it otherwise when she left. ”I see that you have made a friend. Her name is Lux. How have you been, Davin?”, she would say, switching to telepathy instead of the verbal language she had used with Lux.

He instantly relaxed when his Grandmother moved to hug him, returning the gesture with gusto; hugging her tightly and causing a second wave of explosive growth to pass across the forest. There was just no way for him not to be happy with her around, and that just meant this forest was going to be growing rapidly while she was here. It wasn't a bad thing, either; the larger the forest he lived in, the stronger and more vital his own life force was.

"The forest grows, the animals frolic and play. The humans leave us both trinkets, and they respect the forest. It is a good place to live. I have missed you, Grandmother.~" His little fluff of a tail was wagging almost like a dog's would, it was a shared unconscious action many animals had. He focused on what she had said to him; the girl's name was Lux. Pretty. "The girl is pure.. I know you told me not to interact with mortals, but I thought... maybe it would be okay. I hid her from the human hunters before, she did not want to be found by them, I could sense that much from watching her."

Artemis... as in the goddess worshiped by the locals? There definitely was something similar to the way the locals described her: the bow and arrows, the young appearance. Still, she wouldn't ask: it might be seen as rude and she had no intentions of angering a deity, or anyone else for that matter.

As the pair hugged she watched as more and more of the forest bloomed in response, and she couldn't help but giggle a bit. She returned her attention to the beautiful flowers, picking up another one that had landed on the ground nearby her. She brought it up to her nose and smelled it as she had done before.

She ran her thumbs over the flower, keeping her attention on it instead of staring at Artemis and her... friend? Child? She really wasn't sure, and again she wouldn't ask. She had a feeling the pair might be communicating somehow, and that did peak her curiosity.

Artemis was quite happy with Davin's reaction to her hug and her presence; it was always nice to see Davin after all, him being one of her favorites and all. She glanced over to Lux and watched her catch a flower and cup it gently before breathing in the scent of it. This too brought a smile to Artemis' face: she was glad to see the young looking female enjoying the forest as much as she clearly was.

Then her attention shifted back to Davin as she listened to him. She smiled gently: she wasn't angry for what he had done, she didn't blame him – loneliness was sometimes a horrible thing to endure for long periods of time. Besides, this young female was by no means 'mortal'. ”I am glad to hear that you are comfortable here, Davin. I have missed you, too.” She would hug him once more and then release him.

She would smile gently once more and shaker her head a bit. ”Do not worry, child. This girl is not 'mortal' in the sense of things: she is definitely something other. And you're right, she is very pure – she seems very innocent to this world. It's a good thing you hid her. While I don't think the humans around here would harm her, I'm sure they would've made her uncomfortable.”

Not mortal? Well, that changed things. He was free to interact with immortals and other demi-gods so long as they weren't enemies of his family; and this being obviously wasn't, if his Grandmother was so calm and willing to expose herself to her. After several long moments of intense hugging, he relaxed and backed away just enough to not basically be climbing on top of her; he was nearly the same size as her mortal realm manifestation, so he tried to be a little more careful around her in this shape. She was far stronger than he would ever be, but he couldn't help it. Protective instincts, and all that. "I agree, Grandmother. She has a sense of strength, far more so than the humans."

His attention focused onto Lux again properly, taking a few steps closer and causing one of the vines that hung from his wrist to grow and close the gap between them, sprouting a flower for her to take again. He liked how she responded to the flowers, and he was being his usual self in showering gifts on people. He was the generous type like that. He thought for a moment, and decided to take a bit of a risk; nothing insane, but he rarely ever did something like it, and wasn't sure how his Grandmother would react. "Grandmother... Please forgive my boldness, but... would it be possible for you to... tell her my name? I feel like I can trust her... and it would be nice if someone on this plane knew who I really am... The humans here gave me a name, but I have never been a fan of it..."
